ABOUT Wesleyan Christian School

Wesleyan Christian School provides a high quality of education in a nurturing environment.

While we are affiliated with the Wesleyan Church, we accept students from all Christian denominations.

If you are considering a Christian school to provide your son or daughter with Biblical values, superior academics, and the strength to not blindly follow the crowd, we pray you will consider us.

We look forward to demonstrating that at our school, "Jesus is the difference." God's Word says "if anyone loves me, he will obey my teaching." We delight in following the Lord's example by training our children in the way they should go. May God bless you as you seek what is best for your child.

A BRIEF HISTORY OF WESLEYAN CHRISTIAN SCHOOL

The background of Wesleyan Christian School really begins in 1981 when Rev. Strawser and his wife along with another couple, realized that the only Christian school in the Denton area would be closing. They were committed to the idea of a Christian education not only for their own children, but for children from all Christian denominations. With a gracious donation of space from the Wesleyan Camp and the support of First Wesleyan Church of Denton, Wesleyan School began. Housed in four classrooms, the school began in September 1981 with a mere 30 students in grades 1-6. Classroom space was added to the building as enrollment grew.

With a realization of the limited resources of the local church, the school board appealed to the Delmarva District of the Wesleyan Church to assume sponsorship of the school. The need for additional space continued, and rooms were added. In addition, in 1989 a K4 and K5 program were added. By 1991 there were 120 students and the school had outgrown the facilities available. During the 1992-1993 school years a flurry of activity resulted in the District donating fifteen acres of land adjoining the Wesleyan Camp and Retirement Center. The school raised $30,000 as seed money, mortgage funds were borrowed from a local bank, and a six classroom building was constructed by Nanticoke Homes with additional work being done by volunteers.

In 2006 and 2007 a new school building was constructed. Morton Buildings did the primary construction which created an additional four classrooms, restroom facilities, and a multi-purpose room that can be used for chapel and during the week is used as a cafeteria for grades 7-8. Through outstanding stewardship this building was completed in 2007 at a cost of $229,000. The building was dedicated in 2007 and is currently in use. The most outstanding aspect of this new facility is that when completed it was done so debt free.
